Making Sure You Properly Care for Composite Fillings

Part of caring for your composite fillings is making sure to eat a healthy diet. While it does take a long time for a composite filling to stain, it isn’t impossible. They can pick up stains over time if you keep exposing them to staining agents. Typically, composite fillings will darken slightly over time, but it isn’t always noticeable.

Aside from a solid oral hygiene routine, you also need to make sure you are going in to see your dentist every six months like clockwork. When you see your dentist, he or she will double check and make sure your filling is in good working order. Plus, they will often buff it to make sure that it still matches the surrounding teeth and isn’t taking on any stains. If you miss this step, you may end up with a darker filling than you were expecting, which may make it stand out more.
